Welcome to Prague Streets

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and also a very important national cultural monument. Prague is the political, economic and cultural centre of the Czech Republic as well as the heart of the European Union. It is known to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

It has a population of about 1.2 million people. Its historical city centre is a national cultural monument. Since 1992 it has been listed by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site, since 2000 it holds a prestigious title European city of culture.

Prague has become a dynamic cultural and tourist centre of Europe after the "velvet revolution" in 1989. Important political and economic meetings have been held here. The International Monetary Fund council held in September 2000 can be listed as an example.

Prague favours corporate environment. It keeps the 13th place in the chart of "The most favourite European trade locality".

Nowadays Prague belongs to the six most visited cities in Europe. Most of the visitors are from Europe: 17% from Great Britain, 10% from France, 8% from Germany, 8% from the USA and 7% from Spain and Portugal.

A completely new airport terminal was opened in January 2008 at Prague Ruzynì Airport. It will make possible to dispatch up to 12 million travellers a year. Its flexible conception in EUROPA project will afford the opportunity to increase its capacity in future.
